Consular sections of embassies, consulates-general, consulates and vice-consulates assist Brazilians abroad. For the address of each post, use the official list of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry. A consulate does not act as your lawyer.

- Find the post that covers your city in the official list: https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/assuntos/portal-consular/reparticoes-consulares-do-brasil/reparticoes-consulares-do-brasil
- Check on its page which service needs an appointment.
- For a problem in Brazil, separate what is a consular act, such as a power of attorney, from what needs a lawyer in Brazil.
- If you are a foreigner detained in Brazil, the consulate to call is the one of your own country.
What the Foreign Ministry says
