International divorce in Brazil

A divorce granted abroad generally produces effects in Brazil after the Superior Court of Justice recognises it (art. 105, I, "i", of the Constitution); an uncontested divorce limited to dissolving the marriage takes effect without that step (art. 961, § 5, of the Code of Civil Procedure). Custody, support and property located in Brazil follow Brazilian law. The work is remote: documents are apostilled and sworn-translated.
